The Necessity of Money
Money is a
necessary means for the exchange of goods:
without it, living a life that is not entirely
primitive would be practically impossible. How
could a doctor buy bread? Would they have to
wait for the baker to fall ill in order to treat
him?
Wealth consists of goods; money is merely a tool
to exchange them.
Within a family, money is not needed because
goods are shared. There are, however, utopian
ideas that believe an entire society could
function as one big family, but this is clearly
impossible because family bonds cannot extend to
society as a whole.
