The Poor and the Rich
In our world, it is not at all true that some
people's wealth is built on the poverty of others: that used to be the case when
resources were scarce, but now with the technology we have invented, we can
produce more goods than we can actually consume.
Indeed, as everyone knows, during the economic crises in the USA in 1929 and
2008, it wasn’t that the rest of the world became more prosperous; in fact,
everyone fell into crisis. There is talk of Germany as the locomotive of Europe
because its prosperity helps all the others.
Certainly, there are issues of rivalry and competition, but these are different
from the simplistic division of a pie, because that pie increases as the number
of people making it increases.
