The Trial of Salvini

The judge's task is to verify whether someone has broken a positive law, not to deliver justice, humanity, or goodness.
In the absence of a law prohibiting the rejection of an illegal immigrant, Lo Voi charges Salvini with kidnapping. This crime pertains to actions such as kidnapping for ransom, forcibly confining a person in a location, or even preventing a wife from leaving out of jealousy.
However, the illegal immigrants were not forced to remain on board; they could go to other nations or return to where they came from.
In fact, the judges had no choice but to acquit Salvini.
Determining whether the action was unjust, inhumane, or evil is not the judge's task.
