Universality of Ethics

Morality is considered the same for everyone: those who believe that abortion or slavery are immoral see this as a universal truth, not something that applies only to some.

The issue is that some consider abortion or slavery to be lawful, while others do not—what changes is the content of the moral norms, not their claim to universality.

However, the State must make decisions through its laws, determining whether to allow abortion or slavery—it must, in other words, make moral choices.

In democracies, these choices reflect the will of the majority.
