Right and Left
In our current reality (which is not the same as a century ago), there is no doubt about the role of entrepreneurship or state intervention. Right and left differ in the emphasis placed on one or the other element, but a balance must be found. The ideological extremization of either stance is detached from reality. Even assuming, for argument's sake, that the "pure" communist or capitalist were right, neither would have any significant following in our society.
I consider myself left-wing (realistic, democratic) because I believe the essential element is the consumer, without whom the entrepreneur cannot exist. Put simply, no business can survive without sales, and you cannot sell if poverty prevails. Paying workers well is the best way to foster production growth.
