Ethical-Political Conceptions
In the ethical-political field, there is no
unanimity as there is in the sciences. There are gay pride events and family
days, those on the right and those on the left, and everything in between;
everyone has their own opinion (tot capita tot sententiae), and
everyone debates everything, with no unanimous agreement whatsoever.
Rights do not exist in the same way that black holes exist; they are principles
that we humans establish, and they vary greatly depending on the context. For
example, slavery in Roman times was considered normal, whereas we now see it as
an abomination.
What sense would democracy have if it were possible to objectively know what is
good and useful in the same way we know about the Earth's rotation?
