Gestation and Surrogacy
It is gestation that makes a mother and triggers the maternal instinct—the strongest in nature. It is not a matter of cells, embryos, or biological materials; it can even happen that the woman may later not want to give up the child she has borne.
Opposition to surrogacy arises precisely from this disruption of nature, where a woman gestates and gives birth to a child that is not genetically hers.
This is the key point that makes it feel repugnant, horrifying—like a kind of Frankenstein creation.
