Personalistic Constitution
Our constitution (and democratic
constitutions in general) is defined as personalistic, meaning it is oriented
toward society: the rights it proclaims are those that allow participation in
the life of the nation, certainly not the freedom to do whatever comes to mind.
The perspective is that the Republic must remove all obstacles that hinder true
and full participation in the life of the nation (for example, compulsory
education). Moreover, we must remember that every individual right entails a
collective obligation—meaning a responsibility shared by all of us: the right to
health assumes that we all contribute to covering medical expenses for those who
fall ill.
