Rules of War
Wars are not sports competitions; they are
fought using whatever means are deemed necessary to win.
It is true that in the 19th century, conventions established rules of war, but
these were based on reciprocity: "I won’t harm your civilians if you don’t harm
mine."
These rules, however, were often ignored outside the framework of mutual
agreements—for example, in colonial wars or the conquests of the Americas.
On October 7, Hamas clearly violated these rules, and thus Israel is not
obligated to adhere to them in response.
