Gaza and Hamas
We do not know if there is
indeed opposition to Hamas within Gaza. However, there seems to
be no visible resistance against Hamas, even in these moments of
extreme devastation. A people who want to separate their
responsibilities from those of their rulers must demonstrate it.
For example, during World War II, the Allies did not refrain
from bombing Dresden or dropping the atomic bomb on Hiroshima
because they doubted whether the German or Japanese populations
still supported their leaders.
Hamas is not merely a group of killers; it is a representation
of the people of Gaza, governing unchallenged for 15 years.
While it is true that there is no democracy in Gaza, democracy
is absent in all Arab countries.
Moreover, a vast Middle Eastern world supports and celebrates
them as heroes, including even Erdogan. Hezbollah, Syrians,
Houthis, Iranians stand by their side, while even those opposed
(like the Emirates and Egypt) hesitate to take a stand against
them, fearing loss of credibility in the eyes of their own
people.
