Poverty in the World

Third world poverty does not depend on the West: if, due to some catastrophe, the West were to disappear, the rest of the world would be incomparably poorer. If the third world became as prosperous as the West, the West would not become poorer; in fact, it would improve even further.
The idea that the prosperity of the West (and of the countries that have emulated it) is based on the poverty of others is a senseless notion. It may have had some meaning within Marxist ideology, which is now outdated in light of historical reality.
