Poverty in the World
Third world poverty does not depend on the
West: if, due to some catastrophe, the West were to disappear, the rest of the
world would be incomparably poorer. If the third world became as prosperous as
the West, the West would not become poorer; in fact, it would improve even
further.
The idea that the prosperity of the West (and of the countries that have
emulated it) is based on the poverty of others is a senseless notion. It may
have had some meaning within Marxist ideology, which is now outdated in light of
historical reality.
