Science and Ethics
The fact that humans believed in geocentrism for millennia does not mean it was true. This is a matter for science, which is based on observations and is considered true until proven false. Such judgments are made by very few experts in the field and are certainly not subject to democracy. When we talk about human rights, we are in the realm of ethics, which is not derived from empirical data like science. In fact, rights are never fully realized in reality but serve as a model, an ideal goal to strive for, even though we are aware that we will never fully achieve them (perfection is not of this world).
