Debating with Conspiracy Theorists
The difficulty in debating with conspiracy theorists lies in the fact that if there is no evidence for the absurd claims they make (because they are supposedly secrets), there is also no evidence to prove those claims false. For example, if I claim that Meloni is a creation of Martians but can't provide evidence because it is hidden, there is no way to prove that she is just a human and not a Martian. In short, Galileo, to assert that contrary to what everyone believed, it is the Earth that moves, had to present very solid and clear arguments. This is the issue of the burden of proof, which also exists in law.
