Anti-Democratic Parties
Movements that aim to abolish freedom of thought and, consequently, democracy by force cannot be allowed. Indeed, during the so-called Years of Lead, violent right-wing and left-wing groups were fought with special laws. The issue of "bad teachers" also arose—those who, even without participating in violence, theorized anti-democratic violence (like Toni Negri and his circle). However, the MSI was always permitted because it did not seek to subvert democracy by force. Especially the PCI, a supporter of the Soviets and led for two decades by Togliatti, Stalin's primary collaborator, was allowed because it renounced violent revolution to overthrow bourgeois democracy (as it was called then).
