Two Directions of Christianity
In Christianity, there are two directions (as in the cross, as Maritain said), one vertical towards God and the other horizontal towards others. Currently, it seems to me that the vertical direction has weakened considerably and the horizontal one prevails: in the end, the Church currently seems more like a social agency than a quest for God. Some say that this is precisely why it is in crisis, but I do not believe so.
