Collective Responsibility

At the level of criminal law and ethics, each person is responsible only for their own actions. But at the political level, responsibilities are collective, and therefore what the government does, for better or worse, affects all the governed.

The Allies, for example, did not bomb only the Nazis but the Germans in general.

Some say “not in my name,” but in reality, the government acts in the name of everyone.
