Human Rules

Everything is driven by human needs: while animals satisfy their needs according to instinctive and unchanging patterns, humans pursue them in ever-different and new ways, inventing solutions, social orders, and above all, rules and rules and rules.
Every society, from primitive tribes to modern states, is based on rules: it is not so much society that makes the rules, but rather the rules that make society. If we only followed instinct, we would still be living in caves (maybe it wasn't so bad, who knows).
