Church and the Poor

The Church has always taken care of the poor before this task passed to the state, and it still takes care of them when needed. The Church, however, has been against communism and for a moderated capitalism corrected by state intervention (Rerum Novarum). In hindsight, we see that this system has defeated poverty, which has been reduced to a minority, whom it continues to care for.

Only if one thinks that communism is the good of the poor can one think that the Church, being an enemy of communism, is against the poor.
