Bombings
The bombings that flattened Germany and Japan were not intended to flush out the enemy army fighting in open fields, but to demolish the war will of the people. They were successful in Italy but not in Germany, while the atomic bombs made Japan surrender, avoiding millions of deaths.
Now, the bombings on Gaza have the declared purpose of flushing out the enemies, but also the unspoken aim of convincing the Gazans that attacking Israel only leads to disasters. I don't believe they will succeed because the West prevents the Israelis from achieving a decisive victory like the one over Germany, which eradicated Nazi ideas from history.
