Fascism and War
Mussolini had promised victories on land, at sea, and in the air, yet the
Italians, due to lack of resources, preparation, and organization, lost on land,
at sea, and in the air. He spoke of 5 million bayonets when the war was fought
with tanks, airplanes, aircraft carriers, radar that we did not possess:
soldiers even went on foot in deserts and frozen steppes.
