Russian and Ukrainian Language
Ukraine and Russia formed a single state for almost over 300 years, and the
populations mixed. In Ukraine until '92, the official language and especially
the language of schooling was only Russian, so Ukrainian was like a local
dialect. So, it's like asking in Veneto if they are Venetian or Italian: in
reality, everyone also speaks Italian, and the locals speak Venetian as well.
Remember that Zelensky himself comes from a Russian-speaking family.
Unfortunately, nationalism has broken this unity, and then the difficulties,
later turned into the tragedy of war, began.
