Gaza and Laws of War
The laws of war have not been respected for at least a century, except for a few
exceptions such as the Arab-Israeli wars of '56, '67, '73, and even then, they
always apply reciprocally. It does not seem to me that Hamas has respected them
on October 7th. It is true that there is a disproportion between the 20,000
deaths in Gaza and the 1,400 on October 7th. However, if Hamas could have, they
would have killed 100,000, and Israel could kill a million. But this is a
theoretical discussion: in wars, losses occur according to circumstances. In
World War II, the Russians lost 25 million citizens, the Germans 8 million, and
the Americans only (relatively speaking) 400,000. Are the Americans perhaps
guilty of losing so few men?
