Rape and Evidence
In cases of rape, the search for evidence is highly complex. If the rape occurred without reliable witnesses, then the credibility of the accuser must be evaluated. In practice, this means that the alleged victim is the one being prosecuted, investigated, and her past may be aired, possibly exaggerated. On the other hand, it is extremely easy for a woman to first consent to intercourse and then deny it for attention-seeking, revenge, or blackmail purposes.
