Democracy in Russia

When communism collapsed disastrously and suddenly around the world, Deng Xiaoping's China maintained an antidemocratic system by brutally suppressing the protests of the Tiananmen Square students, and afterwards achieved stability and unprecedented development in history. On the other hand, Yeltsin's Russia adopted democracy and ended up in instability and poverty. When Putin took power, stability and progress were achieved. These are facts that we must consider. I believe that democracies do not collapse because they are suffocated by dictatorships, but because they do not function properly: this happened in the last century in the face of fascism and communism.
