History and Propaganda
Historiography must be distinguished from propaganda. Historiography consists of a series of scholars from around the world who delve into historical events, critically evaluating SOURCES and SOURCES and SOURCES. They write books that few read, with a critical apparatus (i.e., a list of sources) that constitutes the majority of the books themselves. Then, there have always been legends, rumors, and propaganda, which in today's world are disseminated by mass media and even more so by social media. Historiography cannot be equated with political propaganda, which, nevertheless, has its importance.
